Our role

We manage the receipt and release of cargo at a bonded storage facility within a customs-controlled area. These facilities can hold goods that have received export permission and goods for which import procedures have not yet been completed.

Cargo imported or exported by sea or air is first brought into a bonded area. Export and import declarations are submitted to customs, and export cargo can be loaded for shipment after the required procedures are completed. Cargo that has received export permission, and cargo that has not yet received import permission, is treated as foreign cargo. When held in Japan, such goods are subject to customs control and must be kept within a bonded area.

Bonded areas help ensure the payment of customs duties and the completion of import and export procedures. They also facilitate inspections, quarantine checks and checks for prohibited goods. Our bonded storage facility operates with the permission of the Director-General of Customs, using a self-management system in which cargo records are maintained in ledgers or electronically.

Exporters, importers, customs brokers and shipping companies exchange customs documents, bills of lading (B/L), S/I, I/V, P/L, D/R, CLP, S/A and other shipping documents.

Data flow
